Best Practice Industry Awards Competition (BPIA)

The following Pension Funds entered the BPIA competition in 2013: Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa Pension Scheme & Provident Fund, Metropolitan Staff Pension Fund, Cape Retirement Fund for Local Government, Vurf-Verso Umbrella Retirement Fund, Tourism Hospitality & Catering Fund of South Africa (THACSA), KZN Municipal Pension, Media24 Retirement Fund, National Fund for Municipal Workers, Natal Joint Municipal, Alexander Forbes Retirement Fund, Old Mutual Superfund.

The winners of the 2013 BPIA are as follows:

a)     Stakeholder Communication – Best Communications Strategy

Natal Joint Municipal Pension Fund (Winner - Large Fund Category)

b)     Stakeholder Communication – Best Communications Strategy

Alexander Forbes Retirement Funds  (Winner - Umbrella Fund Category)

c)     Stakeholder Communication – Best Communications Campaign/Project

Old Mutual Superfund  (Winner – Umbrella Fund Category)

d)     Stakeholder Communication – Best Communications Campaign/Project

Media24 (Winner –Large Fund Category)

e)     Best practices in Compliance

Natal Joint Winner – Large Fund Category

The Open Day for the 2013 BPIA Competitiontook place on23 May 2013.  The Opening Day for the entries was held 27 May 2013.  The closing date was scheduled to be 12 July 2013.  On 18 July 2013 all entries received were divided into categories and sent to judges.

Judges for the BPIA: The following persons were selected as judges on the BPIA Panel: Bruce Cameron, Stephanie Griffith, Natalie Burrows, Kobus Hanekom and Abel Sithole. Judges received entries pack as per category, including checklist and evaluation forms. 

 

2014 Best Practices Industry Award Winners

The IRFA would like to thank all entrants of the 2014 Best Practices Industry Awards and congratulate all winners in their respective categories. The awards ceremony took place at the gala dinner during the annual conference of 2014. The Best Practices Industry Awards once more showed growth by including two new categories namely Investment Performance and Trustee Education and Training. We have to mention that the standard of entries has steadily gone up.
